Situated between Brighton and Lyndhurst Road, this is the Town's foremost ornamental garden and was purchased from the Beach House Estate in December 1922 and opened to the public in Spring 1924.

The site contains formal ornamental gardens, including an interesting Memorial to wartime carrier Pigeons, five automatically irrigated international class flat bowling greens, and a licensed café run by concession (Telephone The Bowl Inn 01903 237722).

In addition there are three tennis courts and three changing pavilions, (including attendants office) WC’s including disabled, and a Bowls Shop run by concession.

Also at Beach House Park there are two outdoor Chess / Draughts boards. This facility is free and can be used by asking either a gardener or the attendant (bowls season only) if the pieces are not out ready.

Bowling at Beach House Park 

The English Bowling Association Headquarters is situated at the north end of the Park (Telephone 01903 820222) who organise the E.B.A. National Championships every Summer.

Various other representative and international Bowls fixtures take place at Beach House Park from time to time including British Isles Championships, Junior Internationals and indeed the World Bowls Championships in 1972 and 1992. Every year the Worthing Ladies and Worthing Mens Opens take place culminating in the final rounds at Beach House Park.

There are four local bowling clubs resident on site:- Beach House Park Ladies, Homefield Park Men, Homefield Park Ladies and Worthing Bowling Club, each of which may have vacancies for new members.

Horticulture at Beach House Park

Horticulturally, the Park is framed by trees on its East and West boundaries, the ornamental South end of the Park is centred on the Bird Memorial with symmetrical stands of London Plane planted in 1992 surrounding it. The bedding schemes are also symmetrical throughout.

A large double herbaceous border separates the ornamental area from the Bowls green section.

The centre walk between the greens is a mass of colour all year long with its beds up each side with Acer cappadocicum (Cappadocian Maple) avenues through. The Park is punctuated with many free standing cast iron planters with various three dimensional floral features fixed to them. Many mangers, self watering hanging baskets and roof containers feature during the summer.
