What is 'Text the Town Hall'?

Using the Council's new text messaging service residents can now text 07624 808244 to find out information about council services from dedicated customer services advisors.

So if you would like to know when your bins will be collected or would like a call back about your council tax bill send a text with your question to our new number and we will provide a speedy response back to your mobile phone. You can text the Council about the following as well as many other enquiries :-

  • Vandalism
  • Abandoned vehicles
  • Graffiti
  • Fly tipping
  • Dog fouling
  • Litter
  • Refuse collection

Please note: The Council is unable to recieve messages relating to complaints, if you have a complaint please follow the information provided on the Compliments, Comments and Complaints page.

How do I text?

First, save the number 07624 808244 to your phone (see your mobile phone instructions on how to do this). This is important as you never know when you will need to use it. If you notice an area needing attention, text your message to us. Please be as descriptive as possible.

  • Example 1 - Bandstand in West Street vandalised
  • Example 2 - Rubbish dumped in the Homefield park
  • Example 3 - Meters at the High street car park north entrance smashed
  • Example 4 - Abandoned Car at the back of Portland House

Leisure Development

To find out what sports and leisure activities are on offer just text the word 'Leisure' followed by the sport and leisure related enquiry.

How much will my text or multimedia message cost to send?

The cost of sending a text or multimedia message is dependant on the mobile phone tariff you use. (Refer to your mobile network service provider for details of charges) . The Council does not make any additional charge.

Where does my text message go?

Your text or multimedia message will go directly to Worthing Borough Council Customer Services who will then pass on your enquiry to the relevant department.

What is SMS messaging?

Texting

Short Message Service (SMS), is a text based messaging service for mobile phones. SMS messages can be sent between mobile phones (even across phone networks), and can also be sent from the World Wide Web. The number of characters in the message is usually 128-160 characters.

What if I don't have a mobile phone?

You can ring on (01903) 239999, write, e-mail, fax or come in to the Town Hall Offices. Full details of all our contact details are available on the contact us page.
