Planning Applications

We would encourage you to use the Planning Portal (the UK Government's online planning and building regulations service) to submit your application on-line.  The Portal allows you to complete a planning application form on-line and attach your drawings.  You can also buy site maps and calculate the planning fee using the on-line fee calculator.

If you would rather send your application by post, you can use the Portal to create it on-line, then print it out and send it to us.

From 6th April 2008 all planning applications must be submitted on the new national 1APP forms.  These forms are designed to make the application process easier by asking standard questions.  Comprehensive notes offer guidance and help at every stage.

If you are unable or prefer not to use the Planning Portal to submit your application, you can download the 1APP planning application forms below.  These forms are not fully interactive and you will need to print them out in order to fill them in.  They can then be posted to us together with drawings and other appropriate documents.

Local Planning Application Requirements

Each planning application form includes a check list of standard planning application requirements.  In addition, Worthing Borough Council has its own list of Local requirements. Click here to view this Local Requirements list.  An application cannot be considered to be valid until it meets both the National and Local Requirements.

In this document, local planning authorities are encouraged to consult on and adopt their own local list of requirements to add to the national checklist for the submission of Planning applications.  We are working in partnership with neighbouring authorities to agree a common list of requirements and this has been the subject of consultation.  Meanwhile, you may occasionally be asked to provide additional supporting documents to assist us to process your application. Your co-operation in the provision of such additional information would be greatly appreciated.
