• Name: Recycling and Refuse Days
• What: It tells you when your recycling, refuse and garden waste is collected
• Where: As standard it is on the homepage at the top right

This was by far the most asked for feature. Out of all those surveyed and asked during the new website's development, all said that they made use of the Recycling and Refuse Collection Day tool to find out when their recycling and refuse is collected. When asked if they would find it useful for the website to remember where they were and always show their chosen street's waste collection days the response was unanimous - yes!

How to use it

Simply enter your street or the first few letters, e.g. Reig, Reigate Road, Chapel Road and so forth.

If there is more than one result a list is shown of the matching results, click on the one that matches and click Select. If none match click Clear and try again.

When the results are shown, the tool shows you whether the collection is weekly or fortnightly and in the case of fortnightly collections whether it is this week or not. The Recycling, Garden Waste and Refuse information is matched up with the colour of the new wheeled bins being delivered as part of the phased new wheeled bin service from Adur & Worthing Council Services.

The street you enter is remembered by the gadget for up to three years if you don't change it. You can change the street it displays the days for by clicking on Change.

We are now beginning to offer these gadgets for download to your Microsoft Windows Vista or Mac OS X 10.4/10.5 desktop.

This means you can place the bin collection days gadget on your desktop to see at a glance when they will be emptied and any changes to the collection day e.g. after a bank holiday.

To download this gadget either:
