Instructions for

Internet Explorer 7

  1. In the web address (URL) bar type in our web address www.worthing.gov.uk and press return or click on the Go arrow:
    Internet Explorer 7's Address Bar
(If your address bar in Internet Explorer doesn't look like this, you are probably not using Internet Explorer 7 and these instructions will not work.)
  2. You will see the popup menu's 'down arrow' next to the search magnifying glass button at the top right of the Internet Explorer window has changed to have an orange glow:
Internet Explorer 7's Search Magnifying Glass - Shows a new search is available
  3. Click on the popup menu's 'down arrow' with the orange glow.
  4. On the popup menu, click on the 'Add search provider' menu item, this pops out a sub-menu with 'Worthing Borough Council' listed. Click on 'Worthing Borough Council':
Choose Worthing Borough Council from the 'Add Search Providers' popup menu
  5. In the dialog[1] box that pops up you can tick the box to make the council's search engine the default that Internet Explorer will use all the time (which in fairness you probably don't want to do, you will probably want to keep a search engine like Google, LiveSearch or Yahoo as this.) Click on the 'Add Provider' button:
Internet Explorer 7's Add Search Provider Dialog Box
  6. Well done, the council's search facility is now available to use by clicking on the popup menu drop down icon and clicking Worthing Borough Council:
Internet Explorer 7 - Choosing the search provider to use
  7. Type in the keywords for what you are looking for. The results are shown in the browser window:
Internet Explorer 7's Search Bar ready to use Worthing Borough Council's website
