Welcome to our brand new website. It is a bit different from the old website so this is a useful guide to help you access Worthing Borough Council's services on-line. We will be expanding this section greatly.
The best way to find a service and if you need contact is as easy as A.B.C.:
-
A - A to Z Index: Always look for your service first in the A to Z of Website.
- B - Build Your Knowledge: Now that you have found the service you are looking for, read up on all you need to know.
- C - Contact: If you need to contact us or a form needs to filled in to continue your 'transaction' with the council, follow the contact and forms links which will take you directly to what you need.
How Do I Find Something?
The best way by far is our A to Z of Website. In here are many of the topics this website covers, and instead of having to
know exactly what we call something, or having to know what the exact
term is, you can use the A to Z of Website to find services and
information from the council using the words you use.
- The A to Z of Website is indeed organised
alphabetically and clicking on any of the links will take you
directly to the right page:
Click on the letter (or 0-9) that your required service or information begins with e.g B for Bin Collection, J for Job vacancies and Q for Questionnaires.
Example: How do you get rid of that old television set that no longer works? Where do you
take it? The dump, the tip, the amenity site, the refuse dump, the
civic amenity tip – there are so many names for what is
officially called a Household Waste Recycling Site! Just look it up
using the word you use and you will be taken to the right page.
- There is also an A to Z of Website search at the bottom of every A to Z page.
Example: If you are looking for anything with bus
in it or related to it, you will
get not only the A to Z terms called bus, but also things
related to it, such as Dial a Ride and Bus Passes.
- If you cannot find it in the A to Z we would really value your feedback telling us what we could and should add, or you can try our website search which is available from the top right of every page on the website:
Again
start from the A to Z of Website and find the service.
Example
- If you
need to report a full bin in a park you could look under L for Litter
bin or P for Parks – Litter Bins. This takes you the page to do
with litter bins.
- The contact information can often be found in three places:
- The contact details at the top of the page : This gives you the basic details, Telephone and E-mail:
This is in the header of every page on the website (except the homepage.)
- Contact Details in the left navigation column : This gives you the Postal address, Telephone and E-mail plus a link through to the full details.
- Contact Details Link
: Most services on the website have a contact information link that looks like this:
Click on this and you
will be taken to the full contact details page which includes
telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, postal address, location maps,
fax numbers, minicom, text message (SMS), opening hours and just
about everything you need to get in touch with us.
You
can go manually through the Contact Us link but we highly recommend
always going through the A to Z of Website.
Again,
the A to Z of Website is your friend.
- Example : First locate the item in the A to Z of Website related to your enquiry, such as S for Single Occupancy
Discount or C for Council Tax – Single Occupancy Discount. If
you were looking to list a local event on our website you would have
success by looking for Local Events under L or E for Events.
The main
thing is find the A to Z of Website entry that matches what you need or is
related to what you want to apply for. On the service page itself where relevant you will see a link like this:
This will direct you into the right place in the forms library.
