Worthing Pier in the Snow

Winter Wonderland on Worthing Pier by Rob Collins
A View of Worthing for December 1st - 15th 2008

After a bit of a break, A View of Worthing is back. We held off in November as the We Play Too campaign kicked into full swing and deservedly with over 15,000 of your votes we won £50,000 for a fully inclusive children's playground and facilities at Brooklands Park.

This fortnight's view comes from Rob Collins and he took this picture of Worthing Pier in the snow (Winter Wonderland in Worthing, a nice alliteration!) in April. But it looks very seasonal for this time of the year and with Northern England being covered in snow this week, we wanted a little here too!

Worthing Pier has had an eventful year so far, starting with the Ice Prince's cargo of timber washing ashore in Worthing by the ton attracting national attention from the media and public, the Worthing Birdman competition in July, the Waverley bumping into it for a day trip and Pier Day. It has also hosted many other events including the recent fireworks display for Christmas in Worthing.

The Victorians believed firmly in the healing and wonders of the sea water and the fresh air of a stroll along the promenade and pier, and there is no doubt that a stroll along the promenade and saunter along the pier is a great way to work off the Christmas Turkey, Turkey Curry, Turkey Sandwiches, Turkey Soup...

Thank you Rob for taking the time to share us your view of Worthing.
