Worthing Pier Sunset by Brian Spicer
A View of Worthing for July 23rd - August 10th 2008

Brian Spicer sent in three photos all of which were exceptional (the standard these past fortnight has been tremendous, we had real trouble choosing which one this fortnight) but this one clinched it with a view of the tide out at Worthing's seafront and a view of the sun setting behind the pier and the fishing boat stranded by the low tide.

The seafront is one of Worthing's obvious attractions and will be soon hosting a week of fabulous events and a funfair as part of the annual Worthing Festival. Also fresh fish can be bought towards the eastern end of Worthing's five miles of coastline, a real treat! Close to where Brian took this picture is Splash Point where we want you to tell us what you think about the proposals for its regeneration and the pier that you can see and the lido. Worthing's Pavilion Theatre is also positioned at the promenade end of the pier and hosts a wide variety of fabulous entertainment all year round.

Well done for being the fourth to share A View of Worthing. Will you be next to be showcased? It could be you!

Fancy yourself a bit of a photography buff, know your aperture from your exposure or just got a photo that you think is a good view of Worthing? Why not send it into us via e-mail and we will choose A View of Worthing each fortnight and you could see your photo on the home page as well as on a dedicated page like this.

We won't be judging on technical wizardry and it doesn't matter what camera or equipment you use. All that matters is that the view is a good one of Worthing.

All we ask is that you send us the photo in a suitable format for us to upload (JPEG, PNG or TIFF, no RAW files please) and we will be in touch if we choose your View of Worthing.

Please only send three photos per submission. Only one submission per fortnight will be accepted to start with (we need to be sure we will be able to look at the photos properly in that time!)

  • Send your entry/entries to: webmaster@worthing.gov.uk
  • Your photo(s) must be in JPEG, PNG or TIFF format. Most digital compact cameras and film scans from high street stores are in JPEG format. We do not accept RAW files due to size and complexity of opening the files sometimes.
  • Please include: your name (or alias) and a telephone contact number.

If you still use 35mm film we will consider postal submissions depending on the demand for this, please e-mail us first before doing this. We will not be accepting entries via medium or large format.

Copyright and Ownership

Copyright and ownership of the photo remains with the person who took the photo but by entering your photo for A View Of Worthing you give permission for us to display your photo on-line.
