New Website for Worthing

Released: 18 May 2008

Welcome to the brand new website for Worthing from Worthing Borough Council.

Over the coming week we will be telling you about all the great things you can now do on-line much quicker and easily than before.

Since June 2007 work has been ongoing to shape the future of the council's website as it was clear from all the feedback that work was needed, even though we were very aware of the problems ourselves.

Our single aim was to make it easier to use and find what you are looking for. On our old website it was sometimes just too difficult to find what you wanted. On top of this we looked at what the wider world has been doing on-line.

When we last had a major update to our website in late 2003, Google was mostly a search engine, Facebook didn't exist as we know it and high percentage of people were on dial up modems. The world changes quickly especially on-line so that is why we have visually updated the website from scratch and hope to enhance the pages further with photos of the Worthing area.

We also looked at Facebook and similar websites which thrive on people being able to customise what they want. Now you can add and hide what you want on our pages. We've made it easy to have your recycling and refuse collection days shown on the homepage every time you visit for example; although we haven't gone for zombie or vampire gadgets if you're a fan of Facebook!

There is still a lot of work that we will be doing, notably on the Planning and Building Control and Your Council pages. We will also be making more of our forms ready for completion on-line, adding new on-line services such as council tax self service, extending the gadgets collection and continuously improving the A to Z Index.

If you have any feedback please do so at the bottom of the page, or rate the pages by clicking on the star rating you think is appropriate.

We hope we have managed to address most of the faults with our website that people have fed back to us over the years, we will continue to work hard to make Worthing Borough Council's website a leader.
