Fancy a game of footie for 50p?

Released: 04 Jun 2007

Are you aged between 11 and 18? Do you enjoy a game of footie but don't belong to a club? If you can answer yes then have your 50 pence's to the ready as the Council has teamed up with Brighton and Hove Albion's top community coach, Mark Slide, to provide opportunities to play football in an exciting project.

Adele Grover, the Council's Leisure Development Officer for Young People, says:

"This unique project was originally masterminded by the Community Safety Team. It aimed to work with the police to help stop anti-social behaviour in known parts of Worthing and give youths who appeared to be up to no good something constructive to do that was cheap and fun."

The next footie sessions will be held at Goring Hall playing fields from 6-7pm over the next 6 weeks, starting from 31st May. All you need to do is put on your football boots and get down there!

Local Police officers Shelley Olsen and Simon Thorne were also involved in running the first two projects at Durrington's Rosie Youth Centre and St Andrews High School for Boys where all nights ran at full capacity.

If you are interested in finding out more about this and future football projects/events or would simply like to discuss any ideas you have, call Adele on 01903 221121 or email adele.grover@worthing.gov.uk or text the word ‘Leisure’ and your enquiry to 07624 808244.
