If the shoe fits...

Released: 26 Jun 2007

…don’t be down at heel, there are over 300 years of lost soles on display at Worthing Museum!

10am to 5 pm on Tuesday from Saturday 30th June until 13 October 2007 in the Norwood Gallery.

From chunky boots to teetering heels, platforms to flats, this exhibition will feature a lexicon of styles taken from the museum’s extensive costume and textile collection.

Curator of Historic Collections, Kate Loubser, says:

"Worthing Museum has a fantastic collection of shoes with the earliest example dating from the 17th century and stretching right up to the end of the 20th century.  We are showing a pair of shoes thought to be those of Princess Amelia…a very important lady in Worthing’s history…"

Kate adds:

"I know that many people out there have a love of shoes and shoe collecting, so I hope this exhibition will be a chance for people to indulge their passions!"
