Welcome to Worthing In Bloom 2008

Here is another opportunity to join in our annual local gardening competition which results in a beautiful floral impact on the town of Worthing giving pleasure to residents and visitors alike.

Online Form Available

For 2008 we have made some changes, with 2 new categories 'Most unusual container with plants' and due to the sunflower competition for children last year, we have a class 'Largest diameter Sunflower'.  We have combined the small hotel and large hotel class resulting in better prizes for the winners.

Those who are regular participants know the competition is judged in July and culminates in an award ceremony on Monday 29 September 2008 at The Richmond Rooms, Stoke Abbott Road, Worthing to which every entrant is invited. The overall winners in each class are presented with trophies, certificates and cheques/gift vouchers/bike (for children's sunflower competition)  in appreciation of their hard work by the Mayor of Worthing. These are generously supplied by our sponsors whilst images of each entry are projected onto a screen to be admired by everyone.

Worthing in Bloom 2007 proved to be the most successful yet.  We hope to improve that again this year making Worthing even more blooming.

Everyone who lives in the Borough of Worthing and any company/school that is situated in the Borough is welcome to enter.  The competition is FREE.

The competition kicks off in January where local children are encouraged to design a picture with the idea of Worthing In Bloom.  The winner will then have their picture and name published onto the entry form.  This itself is printed on approximately 1500 entry forms.  The winners for Create a Picture also receive a cheque for £15.00 each for the age category groups and a further £20.00 for the overall winner.

You can complete the hard copy entry form (available from Libraries, Town Hall, Worthing Herald Offices and Leisure Centres, or we can pop one in the post for you) or complete online today  It really is easy to enter.

The judges will then start the judging normally the second week of July for classes 2, 5, 6, 7, as the judging is in 2 heats.  Firstly your garden is judged within your area and then all the area winners will then be judged again in August to find the overall winner.

For all other classes the judging will be in August apart from the Sunflower class where judging will take place early September.
