About this Cemetery

Broadwater Cemetery is still in every day use and represents a pleasant and peaceful haven in the Broadwater area of the Town.

The entrance/exit is on South Farm Road, between Ardsheal Road to the North and Carnegie Road to the South of the cemetery. There are no vehicle parking spaces within the cemetery, but on street parking in South Farm Road is available.

Broadwater Cemetery is also the burial place of Richard Jefferies, an influential 19th Century author on the topics of nature and social commentary.

Please note:

It is with regret that due to continued vandalism in this cemetery and despite other measures to prevent it, Worthing Borough Council has decided to take the action of locking the cemetery as follows:

The Gates to this cemetery will be locked at night.  Opening times will be:

  • January: 9.00am to 4.00pm
  • February: 9.00am to 4.00pm
  • March: 9.00am to 6.00pm
  • April: 9.00am to 7.00pm
  • May: 9.00am to 8.00pm
  • June: 9.00am to 8.00pm
  • July: 9.00am to 8.00pm
  • August: 9.00am to 8.00pm
  • September: 9.00am to 7.00pm
  • October: 9.00am to 5.00pm
  • November: 9.00am to 4.00pm
  • December: 9.00am to 4.00pm

If outside of these hours you notice anyone in this cemetery please contact our security contractors on 0870 608 1881.
