Communities are a crucial way of directly engaging with people. There are many different types of communities, relating not just to where you live but also to your interests. Indeed, people often belong to more than one community.
Working in your community to raise awareness of dying, death and bereavement can have positive benefits in terms of improving the quality of life for dying people and their families. Across the country, members of the Dying Matters Coalition with a range of different backgrounds are promoting conversation about dying, death and bereavement in interesting and supportive way. Many of them are doing this with others, building networks and relationships with organisations and individuals that are at the heart of successful community engagement.
