Welcome to Worthing Borough Council’s Performance plan 2004/05. This Performance Plan provides details of our key improvement priorities and performance targets for the next three years up to 2007. The Plan has been developed by taking into account national and local priorities, performance results and feedback from our Comprehensive Performance Assessment, and from our residents and service users.
This year the Plan is very much influenced by Worthing’s first Community Strategy, which is called ‘The Town We Want’. This is the work of Worthing Together, our Local Strategic Partnership, which was adopted by both ‘Worthing Together’ and the Council in April 2004. The Community Strategy has a 10-year vision for Worthing, and involves a range of public, private and community sector agencies. It sets a context for the Council to operate within. One of the functions of the Performance Plan is to illustrate how the Council will contribute to the wider community agenda, whilst also meeting its own improvement priorities.
The Plan will help all Members and Officers of the Council to keep a focus on its priorities and on how the Council is performing in those areas that matter most to the town and its residents. The Plan will be regularly reviewed by the Overview & Scrutiny Committee with progress reported direct to the Cabinet. Any resources required will be incorporated into a medium term financial strategy.
"This Plan" says Keith Mercer, new Leader of the Council "is a first for the Council allowing us to align our future priorities to those set down in the Community Strategy. The focus is all about future development and helping Worthing to develop as a thriving Borough making it an even more attractive place for people to work, live and invest".
