Performance Plan 2005 - 2006

Welcome to Worthing Borough Council’s Performance plan 2005/06. This Performance Plan provides details of our aims and priorities and performance targets for the next three years, up to 2008. The Plan has been developed by taking into account national and local priorities, performance results and feedback from our residents and service users. It also takes account of the recommendations from our Comprehensive Performance Assessment, which took place in February 2003, and from inspections undertaken by the Audit Commission since that time. This year, the Plan is very much influenced by Worthing’s first Corporate Plan, which covers the next five years up to 2010. This was approved by the Council in March 2005.

The Plan is divided into two parts: Looking Forward and Looking Backwards.

Looking Forwards  sets out:
·       The Council’s Key Priorities for Worthing for the next year.  These have been drawn down from the Corporate Plan and supplemented with other new initiatives;

·       The Corporate Improvement  Action Plan as approved by the Council in March 2005;
·       Priority and non priority performance targets for Best Value Performance Indicators;
·       Details of future improvement and scrutiny reviews to be carried out by Members of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and officers.

Looking Backwards sets out:
·       Progress made on 2004/2005 Key Priorities;
·       Progress made and outcomes from the 2004/2005 Improvement Reviews;
·       Information on past and current performance for national and local performance indicators;
·       Information on how Worthing’s performance compares with other Councils.
