Racist Incidents

Definition

A racist incident is identified as "any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person".

Performance Target

To tackle racist incidents and effectively and increase public confidence:

  • To report racist incidents and deal with those incidents effectively

Comparing figues for the rolling years 03/04 and 04/05 shows an increase of 10% in racist incidents in Worthing. (CADDIE data Aug 05) Likely to be a result of increased reporting, rather than an increase in the number of incidents occurring.

Victims of racial incidents are encouraged to formally report any incidents they experience to any of the partner agencies as soon as possible.
