Liverpool Gardens

Worthing has many distinctive parks and open spaces some of which are wild and open whilst others are stylish and decorative. Dog owners are free to exercise their dogs in many of our parks and open spaces, however some of our sites require owners to keep their dogs on leads, or ban dogs altogether.

Dogs are not permitted in the following areas:

  • Enclosed children's play areas.
  • The playing areas of the Northbrook Sports Ground.
  • The ornamental section of Highdown Gardens.
  • The beach from 'Splash Point' (end of Warwick Road) to Heene Road and between the two boat launching ramps in Goring from May 1st to September 30th each year.

Dogs must be held on a lead in the following areas:

  • In ALL of Worthing's streets
  • Beach House Park
  • Denton Garden's
  • Field Place
  • Marine Gardens
  • Church House Grounds
  • Manor Sports Grounds
  • The Esplanade adjacent to the dog-free areas of the beach

It is often very tempting to ignore these restrictions as most of these areas are enclosed and secure. However, there are specific reasons why you are asked to keep your dog on a lead. Most of these parks have bowling greens or are used for other leisure pursuits and the grounds need to be kept clean and ordered. As there are so many areas where dogs can be exercised freely in borough we ask all dog owners to take responsibility and comply with our restrictions for the benefit of all those who use these areas.
