Within Environmental Health we have a team of dedicated Food Safety Officers that carry out a full range of enforcement, advisory and health promotion activities relating to Food, Occupational Health and Safety.
The team carries out over 500 full food safety inspections a year. Last year, 200 Worthing caterers attended seminars run jointly by Worthing, Brighton & Hove and Adur local authorities and received one-to-one coaching to develop their food safety management systems and documentation.

The Environmental Health Food & Occupational Health Team is responsible for the registration and inspection of all businesses involved in the production and sale of food.
Regulation EC 852/2004, Chapter II, Article 6, Registration of Food Establishment. makes it a legal requirement for all food businesses to register with the Borough Council 28 days before trading commences.
Details of the name and nature of business is kept on a public register. Below you will find the necessary form for completion if you are involved in the setting up of a food business.
