The Licensing Unit of Worthing Borough Council's Environmental Services Section is responsible for the licensing of a number of regulated entertainments under the Licensing Act 2003.

The following entertainments when staged in front of an audience need licensing either with a Premises Licence, Club Premises Certificate or a Temporary Event Notice. These include:

  • a performance of live music
  • the playing of recorded music
  • a performance of a play
  • an exhibition of a film
  • an indoor sporting event
  • a boxing or wrestling entertainment
  • performance of dance
  • or anything of a similar discription

Also needing a licence are premises that offer the facilities to allow persons to take part in entertainment such as:

  • making music
  • dancing
  • or anything of a similar discription

The types of venue that hold premises licences authorising such entertainment in the borough include:

  • Pubs & Clubs
  • Restaurants & Hotels
  • Cinemas & Theatres
  • Schools
  • Community Centres & Youth Clubs
  • Parks & Gardens
  • Selected streets & pedestrianised areas
