
It is a legal requirement under 'Regulation EC 852/2004, Chapter II, Article 6, Registration of Food Establishment' that all food businesses are registered with the Borough Council. This includes cafes, restaurants, pubs, hotels, shops and mobile caterers. Infact any business where food is prepared and supplied to members of the public.
New premises should contact the Environmental Health Food & Occupational Health Team at least 28 days before trading commences.
As well as fulfilling a business' legal requirement registration will result in an inspection by an Environmental Health Officer who will assist a new business establish safe and efficient working practices.
Details of the name and nature of businesses are kept on a public register.
