W.B.C.'s Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Licensing Fees

As the Licensing Authority, Worthing Borough Council has the responsibility for licensing all Hackney Carriage & Private Hire vehicles, drivers and operators. The cost of providing this service to be met by application fees, annual licence fees and other fees paid by the licensees.

The council has the authority to determine the fees it charges for each type of licence and the services it provides. However, it has a duty to set these fees on a cost recovery basis aiming to ensure that  income from fees as nearly as possible equates to the cost of providing the service to which the fee relates including a reasonable share of expenditure which is referable only partly or only indirectly linked to the provision of the service. 

 

Worthing Borough Council has calculated its fees in accordance with this principle. A table of the current fees is set out below:
