Bronze Award
To achieve the award the organisation must demonstrate the following:
- Identify a named person who will lead on healthy workplaces for the organisation
- Show evidence of compliance with current Health and Safety regulations.
- Make health education and promotion information available to staff e.g. via notice boards, internet, leaflet racks etc and encourage staff to take this information home
- Compile and maintain a list of organisations providing health information and support, and make this available to staff
- Adopt a policy confirming the employers smoke free status and indicating how staff are supported to access Stop Smoking services.
In addition, the organisation must carry out one of the following health education activities (guidance on appropriate activity is available in the project pack):
- Physical Activity Promotion
- Healthy Eating Promotion
- Mental health Promotion
- Promotion of a national/local health campaign event/day.

Silver Award Criteria
Organisations must have met the criteria for a Bronze Award
The organisation must undertake health promotion activity in two of the following areas (guidance on appropriate activity is available in the project pack):
- Physical Activity
- Healthy Eating (including providing healthy choices in the workplace where possible).
- Mental Health
- Green Travel for their employees
and the organisation must:
- undertake a staff health survey
- Have in place a system for encouraging and capturing staff suggestions for workplace health promotion
- Provide evidence to show the organisation’s commitment to promoting a national / local health campaign event/day.
Gold Award Criteria
The Workplace must have met the criteria for Silver Award
The organisation must undertake health the following health promotions activities:
- Healthy eating (ensuring availability of healthy food choices)
- Physical activity (including provision or facilitation of access to participatory opportunities)
and
- Demonstrate evaluation of the organisations workplace health activity and subsequent development of the programme
- Commit a member/s of staff for Health Trainer Training
- Commit member/s of staff for Physical Activity Champion Training
The organisation must undertake one of the following:
- Provide staff fitness assessments
- Provide staff health checks
- Provide work shops for staff on at least two health topics appropriate for the needs of the workforce Eg:
- Physical Activity
- Healthy Eating
- Alcohol/Drugs
- HIV/Aids/Sexual Health
- Dental/Oral Health
- Well Being and Mental Health
- Quit Smoking Support Information
