Housing Register

If you want to be considered for properties with a Registered Social Landlord (often referred to as Housing Associations) you will need to join the Register of Housing Need.  Worthing Borough Council is part of the Sussex Homemove partnership which operates Choice Based Lettings.  Properties with Registered Social Landlords that become available are advertised via Choice Based Lettings on a fortnightly basis.  The Council does not have any properties of its own so the only properties available are those with Registered Social Landlords.

The Register of Housing Need is a long term option, and inclusion on the Register does not indicate that you will be offered housing in the future. Currently only about 10% of applicants registered with the Council will be rehoused each year.  Applicants are prioritised by the level of housing need they have, the date they applied to join the Register of Housing Need (or a date reflecting a change of circumstances) and local connection to Worthing.

For information on other housing options please see links to:

In order join the housing register you must complete a Register of Housing Need Application form. Forms can be obtained by contacting Housing Services with a name and address to send the form to.  There is not currently an online application form available because everyone who applies must also provide documents with their application and these documents cannot be provided to us online.

If you would like further information about the Register of Housing Need and Choice Based Lettings, please contact Housing Services.
