Organising events not on Council land

Page Rating

Most events held in Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council are held on land which is owned by the Council. Applications to hold these events should be made to parksandforeshore@adur-worthing.gov.uk.

If you are considering holding an event on land that does not belong to the Council, then you should follow the procedure set out below. This does not include land which belongs to the Parish Councils as they have their own application procedures and contact should be made direct to them. All events whether or not on Council land are subject to comment by the Adur and Worthing Safety Advisory group.

The guidance and other documents will give you all the information you require to hold and event on public land. The Notification form should be sent to the Council’s Emergency Planning Officer. Depending on the size of the event, you may be requested to submit and Event Safety Plan to the Adur and Worthing Safety Advisory group for consideration. A blank template and guidance document are available to download below. Following consideration by the Safety Advisory group, you may also be requested to attend a Safety Advisory Group meeting to discuss your Event Safety Plan.

If your event requires an issue of a Road Closure Order then you should apply to;

  • Corporate and Cultural Service, Town Hall, Worthing, BN11 1HA.
    Telephone: (01903) 239999
