Worthing Beach is 5.5 miles between Ferring in the west & Lancing in the east, the beach is made up of mainly shingle above high water and sand down to low water, with rock pools. Water quality tested by the Envonment Agency in May 2010 was excellent.

The beach is patrolled daily up to 4 times a day on land with quad bikes and 6 to 8 times a day by our 5.4 meter rigid inflatable patrol boats which are capable of covering boundary to boundary in about 15 mins they are crewed by qualified boat operators with 1st aid Beach officers are also trained to deal with every eventuality from lost children to cuts bruises and where is the best fish an chips and this is not hard as they are all good.

The whole operation is controlled from the Beach Office which is situated next to the Lido complex, from here we have VHF radio links to all personnel whether seaborne or land based all staff carry mobile phones and can contact Coastguard & Police directly in an emergency there is also a 1st aid station at the office. The Beach Office is part of the Coastguard service in as much as we are known as an additional service and we are frequently called in Search & Rescue duties. When time allows we go around local schools, Beaver groups Cubs Scouts giving water safety talks as a seaside resort we feel that water safety is a must.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Section of Worthing Borough Council administer the letting of Council owned beach huts and chalets together with the issuing of licenses to place private beach huts on sites on the beach at Goring.

The Council owned beach huts are situated in groups between Heene Road to Marine Gardens. All the private beach hut sites are situated between Worthing Yacht Club and Sea Lane café at Sea Lane, West Worthing.

The chalets are all situated in a row at Beach Parade, quarter of a mile east of the Pier to the seaward end of Denton Gardens and Beach House Grounds.
