  • Waiting List

The Borough Council administers a waiting list for Council owned Beach Huts and Chalets. The demand for a beach hut and chalet is high and the waiting list is currently 2-3 years long.

    Renewals

During January the current hirers of the Council’s seasonal huts are offered the same accommodation again. If not accepted, the applicant heading the waiting list is advised of the vacancy and offered the hut.

    Council Chalets in Adur

From 1st April 2011 the administration of Adur District Council Beach Huts and Chalets will be part of our remit.  For more information please visit Adur District Council's website.

Private Beach Hut Sites at Goring

The Borough Council also own a fixed number of sites on which private beach huts are situated. Owners normally advertise in the local media when they wish to sell their beach hut.

Please note that when an existing owner wishes to sell their private beach hut, the site licence is non transferable, therefore a new site licence will need to be obtained by applying to the Council.  A fee is payable and once paid, the Council will issue a new licence to the buyer.  Once the sale has been agreed the records will be amended and confirm with the new licence holder that they are now responsible for the terms and payment of all future fees and charges

Site License holders pay an annual fee for the 12 months commencing 1st April. They receive an account March/April each year, payable in two equal instalments, the first by 1st April and the second by 1st July. A vacant site without a hut is extremely rare.

The License granted by the Council is personal to the named licensee(s).

As the condition of the huts vary, the asking price is usually wbetween £8,000 and £12,000 dependent on any equipment included with the sale.
