The Beach Office has over the years developed in to a front line service for Water Safety and public wellbeing, the office is situated on the Promenade next to the Lido were you can get up to date weather conditions, tide tables and general information regarding the Beach & Foreshore. 

Opening hours:

• 1st May to 30th September : 9am to 5pm
• 1st October to 30th April : 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm

During the summer months between 1st May until 31st September we operate our Safety Boat patrols, the boats we use are 5.4 metre rigid inflatable’s, powered by 75hp 4 stroke outboard engines, the crews are fully trained to a standard which complies to the boats Marine Coastguard Agency  small work/rescue certificates which both boats have, they are fitted with VHF radios, GPS navigation, flares, 1st Aid equipment also hand held radios when they have to come ashore to deal with any incidents that may occur. Each boat have a crew of 2 person with a senior boat operator who is trained as an RYA instructor in overall charge of the daily running of the Safety Boat service which covers 5.5 miles of coastline between Ferring & Lancing.

The Boat service is backed up by Beach Inspectors on 4 wheel drive Quad Bikes who patrol the 5.5 miles of Coastline daily they are in radio contact with the Boat patrols and call upon them to attend any incidents that may occur, as an Additional Facility of the Coastguard we can also be called to assist any possible incidents that happen in our area.

Other duties carried out by the Beach Office include lost children we operate wrist bands for this they can be collected from the Beach Office this is run in conjunction with the MCA with no cost to you, 1st Aid post open 09.00 to1800hrs, Water Safety talks for children with video & visual objects this talk can be brought to your school (in Worthing Only) if required. Bye law enforcement is also a big part of the job, re Cycling, Jet Ski & PWC, Power boat, infringements we do our best to keep everone happy and we hope your visit will be Happy as well.
