Beach Patrol in action

The Beach Inspectors team regularly patrol the beach, foreshore and entire 5½ miles of promenade at least 4 times a day in the summer months and at least once a day in the winter months. They are also responsible for checking the Pier and the condition of safety equipment, such as life Buoys situated at regular intervals along the promenade.

Beach Inspectors patrol the foreshore on two quad motorbikes which enable them to respond to any incident on the promenade as rapidly as possible.

In addition to patrolling the promenade and foreshore the Inspectors patrol the shoreline from Ferring in the west to Lancing in the east during May to September in two Tornado 5.3 Rigid Hull inflatable boats.

Worthing’s boats are available and ready for action, seven days a week and as a result serious incidents are rare on Worthing’s shores.
