Welcome to Leisure Development
Since 1 April 2008 Leisure Development has become part of the new Planning, Re-generation & Wellbeing service. In the short term our current approach will continue and our contact numbers remain unchanged.
We believe that everybody can improve the quality of their lives by regular participation in leisure activity.
Each person is different so the benefits we can get from taking part will vary from individual to individual but here are five good reasons why you should get involved.
| Reason | Why |
|---|---|
| Fun | Regular participation in activities that you enjoy is fun |
| Fitness | Remember that mental well being is as important as physical fitness to our overall health. |
| Fulfilment | Whether you are performing or learning a new skill the sense of achievement is immense. |
| Friendship | Leisure activities bring like minded people together to enjoy shared experiences and each other’s company. |
| Freedom | You can escape the pressures of everyday life for an hour or two by taking part in a leisure activity. |
In development we are interested in helping to create sustainable opportunities for participation in the long term. Whilst we are happy to help put on events and short term initiatives, we expect these to be linked to outcomes that will make a difference to the current situation.
We can not do our work alone and we rely heavily on developing partnerships with local voluntary groups and other public and commercial organisations as well as collaborating with our colleagues at the Borough Council’s leisure venues and in the Community Safety and Community Planning teams.
Finally, if you need any advice or have any comments about our service or suggestions for possible projects we would be pleased to hear from you.
