Autumn Programme 2008

Film Strip - Summer 2008 - Football, Basketball and Frisbee

As the last dregs of the summer sunshine draws to a close, hopefully we can look forward to a sunny September before the days get noticeably shorter and the air cooler. I have been busy working on some new projects aimed at keeping you active over the next few months, coupled with some less energetic activities for those wanting to try something different. I've kept the favourites in, so hopefully there will be a good mix of activities to excite you all.

1. Palatine Park

There is a small basketball area you can play matches on here, a big field for football and a children's play area.

2. Longcroft Park

A brand new playground has been built here for children up to 8 years old, thanks to the Big Lottery Fund. We'll be having a play day here, so once we have a date, we'll post the information here. This park is really tucked away, but it's worth finding, it's really nice.

3. Pond Lane Rec
A nice big open space to do what you like on, including playing basketball. There's even an outdoor climbing wall.
4. West Park

This is all the open space that surround Worthing Leisure Centre.

5. Tarring Rec

A really nice park, it's not massive but you've got everything catered for on site or nearby. Thanks to the Big Lottery there's a new basketball and football fenced court there, with cricket markings as well. Outside of the fenced area, there are 5 pieces of gym equipment for all ages to exercise on. There's also a nice children's playground,  Tarring Bowls Club which has sessions for young and old people and some tennis courts which back on to that. What more could you want?

6. Durrington Rec
I've not been here recently. If you have something you'd like to say about this park, drop me an email.
7. The Gallops
Lovely outdoor space with decent slopes to tumble down and a fenced childrens play area. Have a race with your friends to see who can get to the top of the Zig Zag first.
8. Homefield Park
This park has everything, central location, skate park, basketball nets, tennis courts, children's play area and room for football too. Of course the thing that really makes this park is Parklife Cafe, who do a great job of making yummy food and delicious smoothies for all that pass through.
9. Kitty's Field
East Worthing's small but compact bit of green space. You have to be inventive to get the most out of this park, but I think it's fair to say we did manage to fit football, basketball and some other games all into this field at the same time during the summer, so there's no excuse. You even have a fenced off play area at the back.
