Allotments in Worthing

There are eight allotment sites within the Borough of Worthing. Any resident within the Borough over the age of 18 may apply to rent an allotment plot. The plots are of varying sizes, totalling some 986 plots. The average size of plot is 126.46 Sq Metres (5 square rods).

There is a very long waiting list for allotments, infact the waiting list has only just re-opened (August 2008) the length of the list depending on the popularity of the particular site. The smaller sites usually have longer waiting lists than the larger ones.

At the larger sites an Overseer deals with the day to day matters on his or her site, in conjunction with our contractors, Continental Landscapes Ltd.

To arrange to be added to the waiting list please contact Continental Landscapes.  Once you have reached the top of the list you will be contacted by the Overseer, or a member of the Continental Landscapes. A site meeting will be arranged, and a suitable plot agreed upon. At this stage the agreement can be completed, and the tenancy can be granted. A key for the Allotment Site and a copy of the Rules and Conditions will then be given.

Allotment rents are due each January, in advance, and proportionate bills will be calculated for part years. A discount of 30% will be given to allotment tenants over the age of 65.
