Hiring Information and Charges

Worthing is proud to own and manage many Parks and Open Spaces in the Borough, to give enjoyment and pleasure to all ages. A variety of these are available for hire for various events and functions.  The main sites which are frequently requested are:-

For organisations that are non-profit making, these sites are available free of charge for most events for example school fetes, BBQ’s and Picnics etc. The events that incur a charge are Fun Fairs, Circuses, Car Boot sales and commercial displays such as the Tent Shows.

To hire an Open Space to promote or hold an event, and allow your application to be processed as quickly as possible, you will need provide the following information:

  • A completed Application Form
  • A completed Risk assessment form 
  • Public Liability Insurance for a minimum of £5 million per claim

If your organisation does not hold Public Liability insurance at this level, cover can usually be obtained through most insurance brokers or the Council's Liability Underwriters. The premium required for the insurance varies according to the event, activities and degree of risk assessed by the Council’s Risk & Insurance Officer. The Council’s Insurance cover is not available for events that include live music i.e. pop/rock concerts and funfairs.

A minimum of four weeks notice is required for small events. A minimum of three months notice is required for all large events.

Worthing’s Parks & Open Spaces are actively promoted as sites for passive and active Leisure and Recreation and lively entertainment is also promoted. Several of our sites have Premises Licences for Public entertainment as required under the Premises Licence 2003. If you wish to sell alcohol at your event you will need to obtain a licence from the Council's Licencing Unit.

If you wish to hold a charitable collection and/or raffle, sweep stake or lottery you will need to obtain a licence from the Council's Licencing Unit.
