Competition Rules 2008

For classes 2, 5, 6 and 7 of the competition the Town is divided into seven areas:

  • Goring
  • Tarring & West Worthing
  • Findon Valley & High Salvington
  • Durrington
  • Broadwater
  • Central Worthing
  • East Worthing

For classes 5 - 7 and 10 - 13 you may only enter one class.  You may however choose to enter more than one of the remaining classes.

A number of 'Highly Commended' and 'Commended' Certificates will be awarded at the Judges' discretion.

Local garden experts and members of the Leisure and Cultural Section of Worthing Borough Council judge the classes.  They will be looking for:

  • Design and layout with good use of colour, harmony and texture.
  • Healthy and well grown plants with no visible weeds.
  • Maintenance of lawns, structures and paths and other areas.

NB: Climatic restrictions will be taken into account.  

The Judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into:

Classes 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12 and 13 must be visible from the road.

Participants who have been the overall winner of a particular class for three years in succession may not enter that class for one year.  They may re-enter is subsequent years however.

You can nominate a neighbour for classes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8.  Nominees will be contacted to verify details before submission is accepted.

Cups and certificates will be presented to the winners by the Worshipful Mayor of Worthing at a reception at the Richmond Room, Stoke Abbot Road, Worthing on Monday 29 September 2008.   Everyone entering Worthing In Bloom is welcome to attend.

Data Protection Act 1998

This data is collected and held in a database on a computer for Administration purpose.  The winning entrant's name, addresses and contact telephone numbers may be provided to local media for publicity purposes.  The Council will also publish winning entrant's photographs and road/street name on its website.  Personal information held will not be used for any other purpose.
