SPD Planning Contributions

In October 2007 Worthing published its Supplementary Planning guidance on Planning Contributions and its accompanying Sustainability Appraisal.

The draft SPD on Planning Contributions was produced as part of the LDF process and sets out in detail how developers will be expected to contribute towards the provision of local infrastructure when new development takes place. The main aim of the document is to support and expand upon policies in the Submission Core Strategy DPD. A Sustainability Appraisal of the Planning Contributions document has also been produced to ensure that sustainability was taken into account when developing the options discussed within it.

The consultation exercise was completed in early 2008 and the SPD has now been revised accordingly. The content of the SPD will be used in the future as a guide for assessing financial contributions that developers will potentially pay when implementing new development proposals. The Core Strategy is expected to be adopted in early 2011 after which time the Planning Contributions SPD is expected to be adopted as a partnership document.
