Adur and Worthing Council Services carry out street sweeping in Worthing. The sweeping regime is dependent on pedestrian traffic, proximity to shops and fast food outlets etc. Every street and some passageways in Worthing have a minimum of a fortnightly sweep, although heavily trafficked areas may receive as many as 3 or 4 daily particularly in the town centre.
Please note that certain footpaths, rear access-ways, privately owned land and shop fronts that do not form part of the public highway are not the Council’s responsibility and do not form part of the cleansing regime.
If you find a problem with street litter or dumped material, please report it to Adur and Worthing Council Services as soon as possible so that a crew can be sent out to deal with it.
Responsibility for cleaning after the regular markets in Worthing rests with the stallholders themselves. Any rubbish remaining after the market should be placed in bins provided and these are emptied by the Council at 7pm on the day of the market.
Complaints regarding the market should be directed to the Town Centre Manager on 01903 203252.
