Worthing's Seafront Concessions

Page Rating

The Regeneration team on behalf of Worthing Borough Council wants to create a more vibrant and active seafront where there is a wide variety of things for people to see and do. Our streamlined and flexible approach to applications for concessions means that applicants should get a fairly quick decision. The exact length of time depends upon the complexity of the concession but the online system will ensure that applicants are kept informed throughout the decision-making process.

If you have an idea for running a concession on the promenade in Worthing or you have already been successfully operating elsewhere, there are a few things that you will need to consider prior to making your application.

  1. You will need to carry out a risk assessment of your concession. This is not as difficult as it sounds and we have provided a template for you to download and complete using the link below.
  2. You will also need to have Public Liability Insurance of £5m. Quotes for this can be obtained on-line.
  3. You will need to provide us with details of 2 referees who can vouch for your professionalism and the quality of your concession.
  4. An up to date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure is required if your concession involves ‘Regulated Activity’. Regulated Activity is defined as any activity which involves contact with children or vulnerable adults. These are easily obtained and you can get guidance from the Criminal Records Bureau website .
  5. If your application is for the sale of food and/or drink you will need to register your mobile food business with the Local Authority where your vehicle is kept overnight. If your local authority is Worthing Borough Council, a Food Establishment Registration form can be found within the Environmental Health section of our website. Other certificates may also be required where food and/or drink are involved and our Environmental Health team will be able to provide further information. Please contact the team on (01273) 263437.

If you are happy to provide all the above information and wish to Apply for a Concession continue to Application details. A printable copy of the application form can also be supplied upon request.

For any further advice or information, please contact the Assistant Regeneration Officer, Joanna Malandain, on 01273 263333 or email joanna.malandain@adur-worthing.gov.uk.
