Payment of Council Tax instalments must be received by the Council by the date shown on the bill. This is normally the 1st of each month from April to January.

The Council has changed the appearance of its bills for cash payers. The payment slips previously attached to the bill have been discontinued. In order to facilitate an efficient change-over, payment through PayPoint has been introduced.
Those bills will now incorporate a bar code which, when presented with your payment at any PayPoint outlet or Post Office, will identify the relevant Council Tax account number. There is no charge for this facility.
PayPoint is a convenient and easy way to pay. Payment in cash can be made at any PayPoint or Pay Zone outlet. Some outlets may accept debit cards but there may be a charge. Payment in cash, cheque or debit card can be made at a Post office. Please take your bill with you and retain the receipt issued to you at the PayPoint outlet or Post Office.
A list of your nearest PayPoint outlets can be found at www.paypoint.co.uk/locator or you may telephone 01707 600300 for details.
This is the Council’s preferred method of payment as it saves both you (and the Council) time and cost when making payment. The correct payment will be debited from your chosen bank account on the same date each month which means no more queuing or worrying about forgetting to pay.
Payments can be made monthly (on 1st, 8th or 15th of every month), annually on 1st April each year, or half yearly on 1st April and 1st September .
If you would like to pay by direct debit please print out, complete and return a Direct Debit mandate form (below) or contact the Revenues and Benefits section.
Please remember that it takes time for us to process your Direct Debit. You should therefore continue to make payment by another method (please see below) until you receive a letter confirming that the Direct Debit has been set up.
For more information about the Direct Debit scheme, please visit the Direct Debit website.
Payment by these methods may be made
