The Government has announced that from 2 April 2012 the monthly LHA rates will be frozen until April 2013.  Thereafter they will be changed to the lowest of

  • The new LHA rates that would otherwise become effective from April 2013; or
  • The April 2012 LHA rates increased by a rate of inflation determined by the Consumer Prices Index

The tables below show the weekly and monthly LHA rates for the period from April 2012 to March 2013.  Details of the rates prior to this date are shown on the historic LHA rates page.

If you don't know how many bedrooms you would be rated as needing, you can use our LHA bedroom calculator:

Weekly rates
  1 bedroom
(shared)
 1 bedroom
(self-contained)
2 bedrooms  3 bedrooms 4 bedrooms 5 bedrooms
Apr 2012 £68.08

£115.38

£150.00 £183.46 £236.54 N/A*
Monthly rates
  1 bedroom
(shared)
 1 bedroom
(self-contained)
2 bedrooms  3 bedrooms 4 bedrooms 5 bedrooms
Apr 2012 £295.01 £499.98 £650.00 £794.99 £1025.01 N/A*

If you have come here from the benefits calculator you can now return there having made a note of what your bedroom calculation equals to.

* From 1 April 2011, the maximum size property allowed under the size criteria for new claims is restricted to four bedrooms.

The conversion of a monthly figure onto a weekly basis is x 12 ÷ 52 (e.g. £800.02 x 12 ÷ 52 = £184.62).
