Road works with traffic light control

Details of current and planned roadworks and closures within Worthing and the surrounding area are available by visiting West Sussex County Council website.

All matters relating to the provision and maintenance of highways and road within the Borough of Worthing are principally the responsibility of West Sussex Council rather than Worthing Borough Council.

West Sussex County Council is the highway authority responsible for the construction and maintenance of all publicly maintained roads and for transport planning matters throughout West Sussex with the exception of motorways and trunk roads in the region. Important routes for which WSCC is responsible for in the Worthing Borough include the A24, A259, A2031 and A2032.

The M23, A23 and A27 are trunk roads that the Department for Transport is responsible for through its appointed contractor and consultant the Highways Agency.

Any queries, enquires or complaints that you may have with regards the condition of highways, roads, road signs, traffic management etc. within the borough of Worthing or West Sussex in general should in the first instance be referred to West Sussex County Council’s Southern Area Office.

Alternatively problems may be referred to West Sussex County Council via Worthing Borough Council’s Help Point located in the reception area of the main Town Hall, Chapel Road, Worthing.
