The Team

Within the Technical Services Section the Engineering Services Team provide Engineering advice to the Council and are responsible for coast protection, land drainage, borough highways matters, marine structures and general Civil, Municipal and Environmental Engineering. They also provide the primary liaison link with the County Council, Environment Agency and Southern Water Services on highway, coast defence and sewerage matters.

The Team also undertakes feasibility schemes for proposed engineering/construction projects, as well as the occasional scheme for Brighton, Hove & Worthing Airport and Worthing Homes, in addition to its normal day to day activities.

The Engineering Services Team is managed by the Principal Engineer, Bryan Curtis BSc CEng MCIWEM, a Chartered Engineer and consists of a Senior Engineer, 3 Engineers, Assistant Engineer, Technical Assistant and a Clerk of Works supported by a range of external consultants.

The Team also makes use of, and is heavily dependent upon, the backup service given by the Support Services Team.

From time to time West Sussex County Council carry out both short and long term roadworks within the Borough. Please see the Streets, Travel and Transport section for further details.

Road Nameplates

Worthing Council are responsible for the installation and maintenance of Road Nameplates in both Worthing & Adur.

Please report missing, broken or vandalised nameplates using the online form, or alternatively contact Technical Services on 01903 221069.

Bus Shelters

The Boroughs' Bus Shelters are the responsibility of the Engineering Team.
