  • Internet Service Provision Link Replacement

    Amalgamated all of the Council's various Internet Service Links of varying quality and support to a single resilient and properly supported link with appropriate support.

    Status: Project completed October 2007. Implemented 10Mbps Dedicated Internet Access solution from NTL.

  • Virtualistion and Storage Area Network Implementation

    Consolidated the Council's IT server estate by virtualisation thereby providing accomodation and energy savings, rapid and versatile deployment along with Business Continuity benefits. Implemented a high availability, resilient, corporate data storage system for the Council.

    Status: project completed March 2007. Solution provided Dell/EMC.

  • Wide Area Network Link Replacement

    Replaced and enhanced the Council's Wide Area Network (WAN) to it's outlying sites.

    Status: project completed September 2007. Implemented Gigabit EtherVPN Solution from NTL and in house Wireless Links.

  • Remote Access Security Implementation

    Implement ISO 17799 standard authentication system for all remote users that access the Council's IT network along with load balanced fail-over firewalls. (2 factor strong authentication with end-point scanning)

    Status: Installation completed December 2007; solution from ci-net.

  • E-mail Archiving Implementation

    Implemented a searchable E-mail database providing compliance with the provisions of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts.

    Status: project completed October 2007. Implemented Symantec ComVault, PST Migration Tools and Discovery Accelerator through supplier Phoenix Software.

  • New ICT Server Room

    Creation of a dedicated and properly specified ICT Server Room into which to migrate all ICT services from the previous inadequate accomodation. This also facilitated a replacement of the network core infrastructure and radical network revision.

    Status: Accomodation completed in February 2007 and all services finally migrated in January 2008. Server Room solution provided by ADA Computer Systems in partnership with Keysource.
