The Council suffers from very high levels of vandalism to all of it's properties and the cost of repairing this damage amounts to approximately £100,000 per annum. This is clearly a waste of scarce resources and the Council encourages all residents and visitors to report instances of vandalism to the Police, whenever the opportunity arises.

The Council is playing its part to rid the town of this scourge of modern life by introducing equipment and building features which reduce the opportunity for vandalism. No building can ever be described as vandal proof and this is not a problem that the Council can solve on its own. The Council is working in partnership with Sussex Police and West Sussex County Council to reduce the levels of crime and disorder generally.
