Biography

Charles spent a lot of his working life as a Firefighter.  After retiring from the fire service he worked within the railway industry assisting the running of various stations.

Charles has always been interested in local affairs and has served at both Town Council and County Council level. Whilst a member of the Town Council he was Chair of the Leisure and Tourism Committee and spent 2 years as Chair of the Council.  As a member of the County Council he was chair of the Rural Area Committee and Vice Chair of the Library Committee.  He also represented the County Council on the South East Tourism Board and the Local Fire Authority.

Charles was seconded to serve on an Environment Agency Advisory Committee. During this time he was a Governor at 2 primary schools and has served on Crime Prevention Panels, as well as on Local Business Partnerships helping to access funding from Government and European Programmes for regeneration.
