Councillors Allowances 2007-08

Worthing Borough Council having received from its Independent Remuneration Panel the Panel’s recommendations in regard to the Scheme of Members’ Allowances for the 12-month period commencing 18th May 2007 has now adopted the following scheme.  The new allowances will be as follows:-

Basic allowance (payable to all Members)  £3,801 per annum

Special Responsibility Allowances

Leader £7,284 per annum

Deputy Leader £3,690 per annum

Cabinet Members  £3,447 per annum

Chairman of Development Control Committee  £3,228 per annum

Vice Chairman of Development Control Committee  £1,614 per annum

Other Members of Development Control Committee  £315 per annum

Chairman of Licensing and Control Committee  £2,328 per annum

Vice Chairman of Licensing and Control Committee  £729 per annum

Other Members of Licensing and Control Committee £153 per annum

Chairman of Overview and Scrutiny Committee  £2,067 per annum

Vice Chairman of Overview and Scrutiny Committee  £729 per annum

Chairmen of Standards and General Purposes Committees  £576 per annum

Policy Advisors  £516 per annum 

Opposition Group Leader  £2,343 per annum

Opposition Deputy Group Leader  £912 per annum

Copies of the Members' Allowances Scheme for 2007/08 are available for inspection at the Town Hall, Chapel Road, Worthing, during normal office hours.
