National Indicators

Page Rating

The Council is required to measure how well it is doing against a number of national indicators that have been set by the Government.

Some services have introduced local targets, particularly in the areas where there are no statutory indicators. These will allow us to monitor local issues and set out own local targets according to priority of the issue within the community or the organisation.

This has superseded the previous Best Value Performance Plans / Performance and Risk Indicators.

A performance and risk matters report is produced within the Capital Revenue Budget monitoring and performance report which is received by the Joint Strategic Committee. This allows members to reiew the performance of the indicators.

Latest Information

On 13 October 2010, changes to local authority performance arrangements were announced by Local Government Secretary, Eric Pickles, ahead of the Government's Spending Review. This includes the ending of Local Area Agreements and the NPI Set. The Government have outlined plans to create a new single data list for local authorities which will replace NPI's, however the list will not be published until early 2011.

Whilst data collections will continue for 2010/11, the Council will review its own performance measures for 2011/12 to ensure they reflect local priorities and encourage service improvement.
